WHEN I SAW the BUDWEISER CLYDESDALE HORSES
BOW DOWN to New York, I WAS HORRIFIED! IDOLATRY!
This was a superbowl ad February 4, 2002.
It's true I was profoundly moved - even to tears,
because there is an emotion it taps into ...
but it's IDOLATRY!
You had sent an email how wonderful Sunday would be. I hated the screaming 'music' halftime.
I saw nothing holy about it. sorry!
A sister
Dear Sister,
Did you really think the horses were worshipping? They were honoring the dead, who are in the place without sorrow and pain. It was respect that was being shown. Did you think those watching really started to worship the dead?
I hardly know what to say, you are so far from the truth in this. Did you see Paul McCartney singing, "Freedom. This is my right, a right given by God"? This is what the war is over, good and evil. Freedom is God's way; oppression is Satan's. So what if U2 is loud? That is just their style. The program itself was moving.
It was wonderful. [Note: the email does NOT say it 'would be wonderful', but that there would be 'a surge of patriotism that soared from the stadium'. When the e-mail was sent, we didn't know they would have a halftime program with the names of the dead rising into the sky - 'soaring' was an appropriate word for the Holy Spirit to use] People were moved by the rising of the names of the dead. Their spirits were lifted and renewed with the promise that many made: "We will never forget, those who died on 9/11".
You are so religious that you view events through your preconceived religiosity. You didn't even recognize the Holy Spirit because you don't recognize His ways. You think of Him according to what you learned in that fallen religious church. They don't know Jesus. Their religious idea of revival is far from the truth. True revival is people coming back to God. When Paul sang, "Freedom - this is my right - given by God" - there was acceptance and strength and joy within the spirits of those listening. They did not say from dead spirits, "which God?", as they would have in the past. There was accepted knowledge that it is the true God, the Father, who gave the right to freedom. This is a people returning to God.
This fight in which we are engaged, physically and in the spirit, is over good and evil, freedom and oppression. Freedom is God's will. Oppression is Satan's. This is what the Holy Spirit is concerned with - He comes to destroy the works of the enemy, just as Jesus did when He came. All this is to prepare the way so God can come to dwell with man again on earth.
You say that you felt deep emotion from that commercial. So, did you feel like worshipping the dead? Or did you want to worship the firefighters? What exactly did you want to worship? What idolatry? No, there was no idolatry, there was just deep emotion about what happened there at Ground Zero that day, and the many lives that were lost. The feelings came from your heart. The idea that this is idolatry came from your religious mind. The problem lies in your mind, not in your heart. In your heart, you love Jesus, deeply. But in your mind, you have all sorts of ideas and beliefs, which are often not so.
In the past I wrote to you about prophecies which agree with what you think, and therefore they are appealing to you, but deceptive. You might be deceived, when something is not from Jesus, because it is what you already believed. But Jesus Himself has the truth. There is no guessing about it, nor religiosity. The truth comes from God, who is not religious, at all. You need to go to Him, and set aside what you believe, and just wait, and stop with the religious ideas you have. You are missing Him moving, right before your eyes, because you don't think He will move without being as religious as you are. He is not religious. He is not! He is passionate love, for people, not religious people: just people.
