Shooting off...

20 rounds is all that should be needed for burning off excess lube. Shooting off a whole tin (250) rounds fast, might burn out a syn. piston seal in a spring piston air gun.

Once I sold a B-3-1 (.177 cal.) to a young client, he came back a hour and half later complaining that the air gun had lost a lot of power. Him and a friend had shot off 350 pellets in less than a hour, when I took it apart, the syn. piston seal was burned, the edges of the seal of the syn. piston seal were brown in color from all the heat that fast shooting caused, too much friction/heat from fast shooting. The seal had to be replaced.
