Hotels for WPFG2009

Plse ignore if you have no intention of attending the WPFG2009 in Vancouver Canada.

The bowling alley is about 20mins by public transport from "Downtown" Vancouver, in an area called Burnaby.
The WPFG on it's website show a very nice hotel called "Executive Hotel and Conference Center". This hotel is about 5 mins walk from the bowling alley.

Another hotel which not on the WPFG site but worth a look is "Lake City Motor Inn" Its main attraction is that its almost directly across the road from the bowling alley and the best public transport link into the main part of Vancouver being the "Skytrain"

Both are very nice, and have a pool and would be about the same cost. Please note that room rates are without local taxes, which will increase the cost by about 10%. My personal preferance is the "Lake City" purely on the basis that it is family run and closer to the links into the City.

I intend to contact our chosen hotel about August so that we are not disappointed. WPFG events in North America attract more competitors than those outside.
Can those of you that intend to go, check out both hotels and let me know your personal choice. I do not expect to have to pay any deposits, but that may change

Tks for info, I will be surfing for information on possible chalets to rent for 1/2 weeks in the same area.

If any of you want to know what I find out, then please email me. We will be bringing William and Chloe (who will hopefully be a "Special" in the Met by 2009!!)

WPFG 2009

Hi All,
Bill from USA has a friend that lives in Vancouver, He asked him to check out the two
Hotels I found that are near the bowling alley. Below is what he found
********************************
Neither of these are in Vancouver. They are in Burnaby. 20 minutes away or so. The Executive will be nicer. (Marble bathroom, all suites, free massage, free coffee in the room, etc.) but it has modem hookups and is 5 minutes away by car to the alley. Getting into Vancouver is not as simple either and will require a car rental or bussing or cabbing.
The Lake City (LC) requires no special transportation to get to the alley and is walking distance to the Skytrain. From the LC you have to transfer to get downtown so its not a straight shot but not difficult at all. The LC seems a bit more rustic but still well maintained and clean. No free coffee but kitchenettes and wireless internet in your room for a fee. (Free coffee and internet in the lobby).
*********************************
My preference is still the Lake City Hotel

Can those who intend to go to the Vacouver Games and intend to stay as a group at either hotel, please let me know asap along with the hotel you prefer. We need sooner than later to reserve hotel accommodation, otherwise our choices will be very limited and poss paying more than we would like.
Either leave a line on this message board, or send me an e-mail

Cheers......... Fin
