Here's my first ever boot...

I am a big fan of boots, after stumbling across boomselection by accident after seeing it in some weblog, but now my list of links has grown ever larger and I have a large collection of IMO excellent boots from the likes of Freelance Hellraiser, Frenchbloke, Go Home Productions, etc.

I would actively criticise my own ability to mix, and so I don't expect to ever come up with anything anywhere near as good as FH, Frenchbloke, GHP, etc, but here's my first attempt, anyway.

It's two relatively unknown album tracks - Moby - "Fireworks" and Atomic Kitten "Strangers".

To be honest, I hardly did anything at all to this. All I did was lay the atomic kitten track over the moby track and it seemed to fit. I didn't do any tempo or pitch changing. I think all I did was lay it in the right place and make sure they could both be heard. I was just intrigued by the fact I managed to get two album tracks to fit nicely, without resorting to the usual method of an acapella & an instrumental, although you could say that the Moby track is an instrumental as it doesn't have any vocals in. (that's why I picked it originally).

Anyway, after all that, here is the link: :D

It's chilled, and technically, it works, and I imagine Atomic Kitten fans who like Moby will really like it.

Keep 'em coming!

and how many of THEM do you know? :D

So far all the comments I've received have bordered on positive, e.g. they're not saying it sucks, and it does work, even if it's not a classic. That's all I could really hope for with my first boot.

Anyway, I'll try and pick a couple of songs that are well known for my next boot.

probably as good a compliment as anyone is likely to get from dsico :D

It's knew when I posted it that it wouldn't really do anything for anyone. But for my first ever attempt, IMO I think I did a good job of making sure it sounded ok, unlike some boots I hear which usually range from piss poor to good in places, normally due to the lack of interest in making sure the vocals are in synch 100% of the time because they're either a) Shit b) too lazy to cut it better and make it fit.

still what do I know, eh? I'm a newbie :D
