Long story short, recent NVidia and ATI drivers bork DOS graphics modes. This fixes them. Reboot in safe mode, extract all files in the ZIP to a temp directory and run install.bat. Then restart, and you should have your full-screen DOS graphics back. If you ever update your graphics driver, you will have to do the patch again.
For Windows Vista, you have to use XP graphics drivers, because WDDM (Vista) drivers disable int 10h. This disables Aero, however.
I did not expect to say this anytime soon, but thank you a ton Ted! Also, of course, Plasma! The fix worked perfectly, now both my favorite screen modes work perfectly! (12 and 13) (Yes, I am very, very happy and excited, I expected to have essentially lost graphics mode on WinXP on this computer for good.)
I doubt you expected to say it anytime at all... but...

Yeah, Clippy will surprise you from time to time. I appreciate the help he provides for outside link stuff like this and his engineering/port posts. I know, it might be kind of hard to live with Clippy at times but when that bothers you, just remember, you only have to live wwith him a few minutes a day, he has to live with himself the rest of the time. :)
Minds are really are greatest resourse we have here and it would be a shame to lose anyone who contribute in a positive way. Destructive behavior is a completely different story. That is why I was not supportive of the Free Speach ideology, because it was only Free in a destructive way. I've seen some horrible forums that allow that and it seems to me some people who take full advantage of it actually act like they would like to stick knives in each other if they could find a way to do so. I don't want to be part of a forum like that.. partly because I'm woried I could turn into the one out shopping for a new machete! (Or pick up a used one from LKT153.)
So, I recommend that we ban Clippy now, since he just provided us the link to the Holly Grill (Hey, that's what they call it from around where MC hails from.) ...And it will probably be all downhill from here, right?. And yes, as always, Im just kidding. That was a real find, way to go Clippy!
I was also hoping someone who needed a fix like this would try it out and report back. Thank you so much Clippy for posting it and thank you so much Phylo for testing it. I will put it in the FAQ this Sunday and I am always amazed for such a small group of members how much gets accomplished here.
Thanks for putting it in the FAQ. Looks good Pete!
