ELI LILLY: "..its not known precisely how atomoxetine reduces ADHD symptoms.." (Sattera)

Response to MARCH 2005 UK NEWS: THE ADHD and RITALIN THREAD.

Eli Lilly's Precise Science of Psychopharmacology LOL...

http://www.healthyplace.com/Communities/ADD/Site/story_strattera.htm

"...How Strattera Works

Strattera, a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, works differently than any other FDA-approved ADHD treatments. It's not known precisely how Strattera reduces ADHD symptoms. Scientists believe it works by blocking or slowing reabsorption of norepinephrine, a brain chemical considered important in regulating attention, impulsivity and activity levels. This keeps more norepinephrine at work in the tiny spaces between neurons in the brain..."

They don't know how how it works precisely...

They don't know because they don't know (very much at all as to) how the brain works.

They don't know what causes depression or hyperactivity.

But they're happy to sell a chemical cocktail to be given to developing brains of children (oh yes, it was ok to do that with Prozac wasn't it!) that they don't understand for behaviour that they don't understand with a drug they don't understand in the hope they'll get away with it as long as they got away with prozac... REALLY SCIENTIFIC!

Still... so long as that "Dont know what about any of it precisely" criteria has passed its stringent clinical studies (which are meaningless cause they still don't know if its effective after 9 weeks and they don't know if its safe after one year OR HOW IT WORKS PRECISELY) thats OK then, isn't it.

Their prozac (and other manufacturers clones of it) are  kinda a bit hit and miss too aren't they.  And they had the same sort of "clinical evidence"that it was efficacious for the treatment of depression and that depression was caused by serotonin chemical imbalance... etc.

Strattera is a reuptake inhibitor. Of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine

Prozac is a reuptake inhibitor.  Of the neurotransmitter serotonin.

Lets hope they find out how it works before Strattera adds to the hundred thousands estimated suicides of people due to SSRIS  (ie, in people who were NOT suicidal before the drug).

See, Lilly, GSK, Pfizer and the rest of the legal drug barons were all claiming proven benefits of SSRIs because they 'believed' (well actually their pharmafriendly psychiatrists who wrote their articles - or did the ghost writing anyway - often claimed it was PROVEN - it pays well, ask Jack Gorman or Alistair Benbow) that Depression was a disorder and was a Chemical Imbalance of Serotonin.  Something millions of people (mostly in the USA) still believe is true.

They base their studies and their evidence on SCIENCE don't they?

But hang on...

"...In May 2003, the maker of the SSRI Paxil, GlaxoSmithKline (“GSK”), announced that it was withdrawing claims contained in its promotional material for Paxil (called Seroxat in Ireland and the UK) that the drug worked by normalizing levels of serotonin. GSK acknowledged that the link between depression and serotonin levels is unproven and that such claims “were not consistent with the scientific literature.”

So it was all a con trick and thousands of people died because of that con trick (shared and STRONGLY implied by all SSRI makers).  Many more people have been disabled because of that deception.  But HEY, thats OK - its the PHARMACEUTICAL industry.  They're allowed to have PROVEN EVIDENCE.. MISLEAD MILLIONS.. DRUG MILLIONS...

...'But DO let us know if an ILLEGAL drug pusher tries to push drugs on to you...we'll be ready and willing to take action!'

NO WONDER KIDS BUY AND SELL RITALIN UP NORTH!

ITS A DRUG THAT HAPPENS TO BE SO SIMILAR TO SPEED THAT IT HAS  'GREAT' STREET DRUG EFFECTS and its ENDORSED by EVERYONE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO RELY ON.  Government, Doctors,  and now maybe even Lancashire Policemen...

LOOK AT THE SHAMEFUL EXAMPLE THEY'VE GOT !!
