"...The ABPI claims to have won significant concessions in the 2001 Police and Criminal Justice Act. Indeed all of its main requests were added to the Act, including provisions to “deal with protests outside people's homes, malicious communications, the organisation of harassment campaigns and the availability of company directors' and secretaries' home addresses. In addition, a National Crime Squad has been established, along with a high level ministerial committee, to deal specifically with this type of criminal activity.”22 ..."
I wondered why GSK got such fast action when Garnier got frightened at a possible threat... (but the rest of us don't, despite damage or losing a relative). Note he says...
"GlaxoSmithKline's Jean-Pierre Garnier told the Daily Telegraph his firm spent millions of pounds protecting staff. "

Would that be paid out from the (billions) profit his firm makes from dealing in death and disability, say...from seroxat? OBVIOUSLY drug dealing and deaths resulting can't POSSIBLY be more important than a claim of a perceived threat to the drug dealers.
As "justice" now seems to incorporate ABPI then perhaps the Police & C justice system should be more lenient on the average illegal drug baron? Give him/her immediate protection and extensive media attention etc if for instance a parent of a child killed by ...lets say SPEED... might even APPEAR to pose a threat?
I wonder if the Police & Criminal Justice system would take that much notice of demands made by ILLEGAL Drug Barons? Aren't the corrupt such cowards, despite their wealth and power? Of course they are because the first and foremost interest they have is SELF, and that includes THEIR OWN SAFETY!
Unfortunately their interest doesn't extend to public safety.
And it seems, neither does that of the Police & Criminal Justice department.
IS THERE ***ANY*** UK SYSTEM THAT ISN'T CORRUPT ENOUGH TO BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY?
If there is.. PLEASE SPEAK OUT!
Phew... an "undefiled heritage" ? If only Rudyard Kipling could have seen into the future
"...in 2000, the ABPI described its “battle plan” thus: “to deploy ground troops in the form of patient support groups, symapthetic medical opinion and healthcare professionals... which will lead the debate on the informed patient issue. This will have the effect of weakening political, ideological and professional defences... Then the ABPI will follow through with high-level precision strikes on specific regulatory enclaves in both Whitehall and Brussels...”7
