Hi!

I keep hearing the word pervasive. Two of my therapist keeps mentioning the word pervasive. Are they talking about PDD or PDDNOS? Or is it something else?

Could anyone direct me to a website about the PDD or PDDNOS?

Thanks-

HI,
PDD is usually refered to for diagnosis that are part of the autism spectrum. Don't let that scare you. Autism is a spectrum disorder in that there is a large range. I have 2 children who have Asperger's Syndrome which is part of autism. They can function, read, talk, and most people would not think of autism when they see them. PDD-NOS is Not otherwise specified, which is basically the medical community saying we don't know. For very young children, a dx ( diagnosis) of this isn't set in stone. You could look at 10 children with this PDD at age 3-4 and then saw them in 5 years, there could be a vast difference and the dx could change. It depends on the intervention or work you do with your child. Don't fear a dx. I see it as a road map to help and what to work on. It doesn't have to be a prophecy of what is to come. Please feel free to write me if you like.
Peace, Nedra
