HI,
I wanted to tell you the latest on my 10yo Matthew. Many of you know we have had an extremely rough time since Jan 2001. Matt started having episodes that were very puzzling. More recent doctors said it wasn't seizure but bipolar. But it didn't always fit bipolar. We got an evaluation by a psychologist who said it definitely wasn't bipolar or behavioral. We applied for an evaluation at Meridell. They do do outpatient evals. I had heard wonderful things about this center from parents who had sent their kids there.
Matt was evaluated and they did the BEAM, a special EEG and documented the seizures. We finally have proof of what we have been seeing. I just want to get the word out to any family in a similar situation.

Here is more information about the outpatient evals they do.

Peace, Nedra

HI,
We are still adjusting meds. They want to increase his Trileptal and you can only bump it up so much every 5 days. Might not know if it works for a month still.
Peace, Nedra

Can you tell me more about the BEAM test?

My 2 BP boys are finally both (I hope and cross my fingers) getting stable, and we are starting to be able to have a life w/o walking on egg shells all the time. YIPPEEEE! However I still feel like my older boy could be having some seizure activity. I'd really like to be able to pin-point it before he gets the dreaded drivers license. Thats a scary thought.. seizures and driving. Yikes!

I hope that these answers will provide a way for the docs to treat Matt's seizures and allow a bit of relief for him and your whole family.

((((hugs))))
