I am new to this board and to homeschooling. I have an 11 y.o. son who is severly dyslexic. We bombed at public school and switched to private. Last year worked well, this year is not working so well. I have decided to homeschool next year and plan to make this committment last thru high school (God willing). I am in need of any information that you can give me on the best curricula for dyslexics. I have read so much that I am thoroughly confused at this point. LOL

I have found Mega Words for spelling - that seems to be good.

What about the other subjects? What is the best bible study program? Currently we are enrolled in a private Baptist school that uses ABeka. I like the science and history. But the math, spelling, language has much to much busy work.

Any help or info that you can give me will be greatly appreciated. My email is TxScrapper@aol.com.

Thanks so much.

HI,
Stevenson is a good program that was designed for dyslexic kids. I haven't used it but know moms who have.

It is a very different approach and it is a complete language arts program designed for dyslexic kids.

Have you checked into the Wilson Program? We went through the thing. We tried public, private for dyslexics and now homeschool with help. We use the Wilson Program for reading, writing, phonics. It has really helped. You can contact them at Wilson Language Training Corp. 800-899-8454. Abeka is a tough program for dyslexics.
