Parents of Spec Needs HS Seminar or Tutoring?

I have been professionally involved in working with special needs students for years. This includes working successfully with ADD, ADHD, DD, Bipolar, PTSD, MH (and rest of alphabet soup). A colleague and I have recently started a business. We present seminars for staff who work with people with disabilities. Our primary interest, however, is tutoring and/or otherwise working with homeschooled students. My interest is in teaching reading and I have very successfully used a specific phonics-based program with children who were non-readers previously.
My question is this: knowing that parents who homeschool may be doing so due to dissatisfaction with other educational experiences, do you think there is a need for the types of services I mentioned above? Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

I have a son at home who is 16, mentally gifted but extremely dyslexic. He has been tried on any number of curriculum, including three years of a phonics-based program administered through a university (1 hour, 5 x weekly). We are still struggling. Money is a problem - he appears unable to differentiate vowel sounds, and the recommended program for this type of problem (I believe CAPD) is Lindamood-Bell. Only the local school district has the funds for it, and it takes due process. There is no time left. Why have I waited so long? I have another child who is BP,PDD-NOS, who was forced back into the school system, and I have been fighting all of these years to get accommodations for her. Now that she is finished (!), I have a little more time to use for my son.

HELP!!!!! any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated.

I admire your tenacity. I need a little more info, though:
1) does your son only have dyslexia or are there other LD's, ie dyscalculia?
2) does your son have any decoding/reading abilities at this time?
3) what program did the intensive university tutoring program use?
4) when did he last receive tutoring/instruction directly related to his reading disability?
5) what part of US do you live in - resources vary.
6) what are your son's interests - you mention he's bright - how do you see this manifested?
7) how was the CAPD diagnosed?
8) is he only unable to distinguish vowel sounds or does this difficulty also include consonants?
I will tell you that there are other phonemic awareness programs out there that use the same principle as the one you suggested.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.
