The black swan is endemic to Perth, and is on the WA state flag. When explorers (Capt Stirling) first travelled up the swan river it was full of black swans, hence the river got named swan river. The kangaroo is to braodly australia and not representative of the state
The use of the Black swan as mentiond is sybmolic for Western Australia, thus its representation on the logo appropriate to represent WA, since the Association is based in WA. The logo is unique in nature as it brings together PNG (as a whole, not regonalised - use of the Kumul: known representation of PNG) and WA Black swan, connected by the Southern Cross, which appears on BOTH Australian and PNG Flags.
