GO AHEAD! I'LL BE THERE TO GIVE MY MORAL SUPPORT.

SAPOT

April 21 2009, 9:33 PM

Full moral support for the concept. but first our own country...
Each time I return home I notice the following that perhaps people living in PNG may not see from within.

The gap between the rich and the poor (or politicians and their voters) are growing wider and wider. People now live with crime (break-ins, rapes, hold-ups) as a norm in their day to day life. Squatter settlements are on the increase. Now I notice how fashionable it is to accuse another of sanguma to explain their ignorance and as an excuse to murder a family, even academics are studying this amazing paranormal phenomena (for those academics, sanguma in pidgin is derived from the South African word sangoma for sorcerer). And I always read in the news papers about our politicians announcing PNGs fast growing economy side by side with gang rapes and armed hold ups on the same pages. And recently the parliament gives itself without debate a 50% pay increase and buys a K150million luxury jet in the midst of the start of a global economic recession (the waves of financial turmoil usually hit developing countries like PNG 6 - 12 months after the developed nations). Then the papers report of cuts to Education and Health budgets the same week.

And every time I walk the streets of Port Moresby I am confronted by scenes of devastation (dilapidated buildings, leaking sewage), appalling poverty and child beggars (here though I give THUMBS UP to governor Parkop for a city cleaner than when I saw it two years ago). And at home I am confronted by teachers and health workers sweating it out for months on end without pay, without equipment, medicines and my relatives all waiting for an AusAID project and the MPs donations, while my youth relatives drive down to Lae to see if they can kisim wanpla kar long salim igo long ol Hailans. I can understand why our tourism can never grow.

We have become no better than the failed states of Africa, the only difference being that our diversity has kept many tribal ambitions in check. We have a lot of resources but to remain on of the poorest countries in the world relying heavily on foreign aid for our major development programs. The answers are simple but we need some very firm and decisive leadership either from outside or from within, perhaps the services. The first priority for this country is to establish a strong and firm Law and order system for PNG. From the Judiciary, 5 yearly law reviews (to toughen or relax accordingly), governance-ombudsmen and down to the police and army (a police state if necessary) and their numbers should be increased 10 fold. The Second priority is the need to invest very very heavily on basic education and the various arms of tertiary education as a priority. Our human resources needs tendering and developing more actively than at present. We need that human resource to take this country out of this quagmire. And please let us begin learning in English when we start school. The third priority is the resuscitation of our Health Services urban and rural, primary and secondary.

We need to change the name of our country too as a start. Throw off the colonial shackles of Africa that named the island New Guinea or the colonial Malayan word Papua. Is Paradisea a good name for our country?, what about a name in the native vernacular?

The rest of our developmental issues can then fall into place. Compensation claims relating to land development and tribal fights and killings must be suspended. Foreign investment should be welcome but as loans and management rather than to wholly own our non-renewable resources. This country definitely needs someone like Chavez to run this country.

I think a military government is long overdue....

We are the peoples Army, not just prepared to stand up and fight for the West Papuans, but an Army that will train our young men to be warriors again, to work to help build the infrastructure both PNG and West Papua need. Above all, we want our people to feel a part of the revolution and the New "New Guinea", and every wantokz should have a right to land, especially every young family. Any young people will have a job waiting for them in the peoples Army, and land assured for them. All the PNG governments failed to ensure these basic things for young people - a home and a job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Join us, we know the state PNG is in, this "Army" is a peoples Army, and just by standing up and marching to free West Papua, you are doing your bit to help.

be there, July 1, exact locations and times revealed soon.

Re: SAPOT

April 22 2009, 4:38 AM

If you're for real, the very last place you'd be spending your time drumming up support would be the internet. Don't be so naive as to think that revolutions will ever start on the internet. Just by the fact that you're here shows that you're mission is a failure from the start.

Go read about how revolutions really start and learn from their mistakes and successes before showing the world how silly and naive we are with out superficial and fake internet revolutions.........

1ST NGRA ACTION CAMPAIGN

"HERE'S TO YOU, BERTHA SOMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

May 6 2009, 5:50 AM

NGRA realizes that many think that we're all big ideas and no track record.

We also now realize that if we are put up on the pngscape poll, one person could easily manipulate the result by voting over and over for NGRA.

So we thought about what kind of NGRA action we might take that would be so effective that none of the critics could ever again say that we're 1 or 2 mauswara people who are incompetent at organizing people or planning anything effective.

The result is our first NGRA campaign, called "HERE'S TO YOU, BERTHA SOMARE!"

Go to the following web site (it's part of a blog by a Papua New Guinean) where Bertha Somare has defended herself and her family on an internet blog.

https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=28244882&postID=3699984503854653201

Up to now, hardly anyone replied to her words, much less criticized the Somares.

NGRA is changing that as we speak. We are putting action where our words are. We are telling Bertha Somare and the Somare family exactly what we think of them by posting comments to Bertha Somare's stupid remarks.

As the days pass, youll be able to see for yourself by the number of reply postings on that site and realize that:

-NGRA is not afraid in the least of Bertha Somare or any other Somares
-NGRA has lots of supporters that are willing to follow NGRA's lead
-NGRA doesn't just talk, we do action.

So check out this site on a daily basis, watch the comments grow, and judge us accordingly:

https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=28244882&postID=3699984503854653201

We know that the Somare family will be watching those commments unlike pngscape (where they almost certainly never come) so we want to show them the extent of our rage and disgust at their behavior.

Join us or not, you're now gonna see some real action on the internet!!!!!

Re: SAPOT

Yeah, a military government would be great, just like the military governments in much of Africa, the 30 year+ military government of Suharto in Indonesia. All that happens under a military government is that a chosen few military officers steal the country bare.

Just like everyone, you're full of information about what our problems are but still blind to figuring out the solution. The solution is obvious and it starts with fewer internet postings and much more groundwork in the villages and the squatter settlements.

Re: SAPOT

April 22 2009, 11:04 AM

The NGRA started when I saw 2 tribesmen from West Papua protesting in jakarta, and how they were treated like scum by the Indonesians spurred the formation of the NGRA, and yes that was in the Suharto era. I have lived this for real.

The rebel army slowly grown since then, we have been building for years, this is your chance to be a part of the non-violent wing of the NGRA, are you gonna stand up and protest for West Papua and a free and united New Guinea, or are you gonna just stand there and do nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the time has come for all New Guineans to stand up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

before its too late and our country falls apart!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: SAPOT

April 22 2009, 3:16 PM

Let's see. You say this is a nonviolent arm, yet at the same time you are an army. What is it, violent or nonviolent, you can't be 2 things at once.

Even OPM leaders were known. You, on the other hand, are invisible leaders with invisible soldiers asking for invisible support!

Probably you should go back to da drawing board!

Anonymous

this is the chance for PNGians to take non-voilent action!!!

April 24 2009, 3:14 AM

Unfortunately many OPM leaders are dead, in fact the man who declared the independence of West Papua on July 1 a few years ago now was murdered by the Indonesians. The NGRA is well aware of the OPM, and of it's leaders, dead and alive.

Of course we dont want the CIA knocking on our door after blowing up roads to USA mining operations in West Papua, and attacking chinese logging camps has had the potential to attract the attention of Chinese spies; our identities are meant to be secret, we are an army, not a church or a rock band.

But we are coming out now because we know the time is right.

And this is the chance for ordinary PNGians to help, but the key is a united approach. The protest are planned to be a non-violent approach.

The biggest problem PNG has is it's problem of people turning on each other.

The success of the NGRA has been when groups of people work effectively together. We have seen this work in operations we have undertaken, we know wantoks can work together, we know wantoks can unite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So come to the march in your capital city on July 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Free West Papua!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unite New Guinea as one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No time to waste, PNG is in disaster status

April 24 2009, 10:24 AM

The attitude that people have in PNG is largely the reason for the disastrous state of the country, people have become entrenched with a negative attitude

If we dont stand up now, our country will have to be declared a failed state and the UN will move in and take over, are you people really aware of the precipous we stand on???????????????????????????????????????????????

You have no choice but to stand up for all that the NGRA stands for

at this point in time our country is the laughing stock of the world

and its the negative attitude like those replying here that has caused this

those of you who will not stand by and watch our country die, stand up!!!

Re: No time to waste, PNG is in disaster status

April 24 2009, 10:34 AM

Your whole NGRA idea only adds to the laughingstock status of PNG, that's what you don't seem to understand. I don't think anyone disagrees with anything you say about what our problems are. However before you get all worked up and pekpeked all over this web site, you should have spent some time studying about how people effectively organize and take action.

Instead, you went off half cocked and look what the results are. Not only have you not succeeded in your objectives in getting support, but you have damaged the chances of people even taking the issues seriously. Next time, become an expert in what you want to do before you go doing things half cocked because whenever we Papua New Guineans do that, we always end up with a disaster.

I can guarantee you that those who you hate (and many of us hate) do better planning to steal from our country than you've done to try to stop the thievery.

Re: No time to waste, PNG is in disaster status

April 24 2009, 10:57 AM

Believe me, a mature, strategic approach to building support will be successful. People will join such a movement and they'll contribute their time and energy. The only reason why our corrupt PNG pollies have stayed in power is that no one yet has stood up as a visible leader and taken an intelligent approach to organizing people behind them.

But remember, I said that success would come from "mature strategic approaches". That certainly excludes you and your repetitious, childish way of going about all this. One example of your immaturity was when you decided to post the same thing across all the forums, which managed to annoy people who otherwise may have been on your side.

I'm not going to waste my time trying to convince you because I know that time will prove me right and you wrong. It's your mistake not to listen good to the responses you're getting because the only people on this site that would bother to do anything that you're requesting of us, are the people who bother to write and post. So far you've only gotten the support of you, yourself, and you, plus maybe a few other people around Melbourne.

See how much response you get on facebook coming from this site and you'll see what an ineffective promoter yu have been.

It is obvious "think 4 a moment" that you havent taken the time to ever even go to West Papua?

We have the support we need, our efforts are known where it matters, amongst the ordinary people in the remote areas of New Guinea

Fighting with ourselves will not achieve anything, we have no choice but to help our brothers and sisters in West Papua. Just stand up and march on July 1

We have spent thd last 10 years fighting the Indonesians in the west Papuan Jungle, making a website is not a primary concern for us!!!

Marching on July 1 is, are you with the gay associations like "think 4 a moment" is on about, or are you concerned the real everday mistreatment of our people in West Papua???????????????????????????????????????????????????

REUNIFICATION

REUNIFICATION

April 24 2009, 1:42 PM

ISLAND REUNIFICATION.

NGRA, I support you fully.

The reunification of the Island of Niugini as a complete and Independent state is a noble ideal that is also achievable. Though it will take time even decades to achieve this ideal. it is worthwhile implanting the seeds of this ideal now and to recruit the hearts and minds of countries that matter and the peoples that this ideal encompasses.

While your march as I understand it is purely to bring the western nations such as USA, UK, EU and USA to express their concerns and hopefully garner political dialogue regarding independence for Papua Province, your inclusion of this new ideal (Reunification of the whole island of New Guinea as a melanesian state)must also be spelled out clearly and voiced out stongly as well. Bearing in mind too that the new US president (Barak Obama) although a black man has an Indonesian stepfather so how does he figure in your strategy if you want USA to support you?

I have travelled to a few places in Papua Province including Jayapura and have been very downhearted at the sight of our Melanesian people(s). They walk around with an air of oppression looking like a subdued people in cultural depression. I have seen the same in Cairns/FNQ among the aboriginal populations. Yes the issue of Papua has hardly been solved, nor will it ever be solved the longer you allow this to continue.

Are we fighting Asians here? the answer is no. The Melanesians are Asians themselves. So while we may be black outside coloured by the burning equatorial sun, we are genetically Asians, being the first into Asia. So we ought to begin thinking like Asians ourselved, never mind the colour black or yellow.

As I noticed a few rhetorical people's comments in other postings.. And I agree with them that the names New Guinea and Papua should be changed too to names that mean something the a melanesian tongue.

Papua New Guineans have never had to fight for Independence. We were dragged unsuspectingly into it by the current PM who did it for his own agenda (now reportedly the wealthiest man in PNG) during an era when Australia wanted us out anyway so that it would not foot the bill for a sudden increase in its social benefits payments (approx $30 billion per year if PNGeans were Australians and on the dole).

For those who continue to critize you guys in what you are doing, I say this: your ignorance has not changed since you have come to Australia to study and work or live. The same ignorance has allowed the current corrupt PNG politicians to be voted into power and will continue to allow the country's wealth to be leached out and into a few pockets while the rest of our countrymen continue to live in dire poverty amongst a crime filled society with poor education and health. So I beg you to change your attitude, look into the future and do your best to try to help prevent the disease that has now reduced PNG to be classified as one of the 30 poorest countries in the world. Your help in changing our nation is invaluable.

Join us in our fight for justice!

April 24 2009, 2:06 PM

This is part of our main policy platform. More details to be released shortly.

- Women should be allowed to ride on buses
- Homosexuals should be made to wear blue hats
- The age of consent will be raised to 11
- The fine for killing a wife will go up to 200 kina
- The Prime Minister will be chosen to be the Member who can suspend the heaviest weight from his scrotum. Currently the leader should be Arthur Somare who can suspend a car battery for almost eight seconds!
- Women should not have the right to vote. It is very dangerous to allow this. We say in NGRA letting woman vote is like giving monkeys guns.

We will unite the peoples of PNG to demand these rights!
