Hawke awarded top PNG honour

Former prime minister Bob Hawke has been awarded one of Papua New Guinea's highest honours.

Bob Hawke was one of dozens of people to be conferred honours during an investiture ceremony at Government House in Port Moresby.

He was made a Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu, the highest award that can be given to a foreigner.

Mr Hawke received the award "for service to Papua New Guinea prior to and since independence, through involvement in the establishment of the trade union movement and early national wage development."

The honour comes with the title "chief", something Mr Hawke is very pleased about.

"I want deeper bows thank you, much obeisance," he said.

"No seriously it's a great honour, I'm very grateful."

Mr Hawke says the Order of Logohu is one of the more unique honours he has received since leaving politics.

"I've got one from Thailand which created quite a bit of amusement amongst the journalists when I was over there and got awarded," he said.

"That was the Order of the White Elephant. This is much more serious than that. I do appreciate it. It's a mark of a long association I have with this country."

Other recipients include former US president Bill Clinton and former Australian foreign minister Andrew Peacock.

What a joke, lets see if Bob Hawke will wear the title like the other selfseeking over glorified Grand Thiefs in PNG...

Many scapers have opted to use proxies to protect their locations or IP addresses but these are people with the knowhow. For the rest to surf safely here you have options:
