I am sitting here with one of the old cookbooks in hand....you should email me..we may know each other.
there is a recipe for gingerbread..one of a few actually.
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup butter2 1/2 c flour
1 tsp each of ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg
2 well beaten eggs added last
2 level tsp baking soda in 1 cup boiling water
Cream butter and sugarm stir in molasses. Sift flour and spices.
Add soda and boiling water to creamed mixture. stir in flour. add beaten eggs last.
Bake in loaf pan
