Looking for any of the internees located at Humlebacken, Korsnas, Sweden between June 20, 1944 and Nov15, 1944. I believe our plane was called Mistah Chick and the pilot was Lt. Roeder.

Lt. Raymond Bass, co-pilot

Hi Raymond,

According to MACR 5925, your aircraft was B-24J-80 CO 42-100190 from 566th Sq (RR J+). This was named PRINCESS KONOCTI. Crewmembers in addition to the Pilot and yourself were:
1/Lt Donald R. Schermerhorn (N)
2/Lt Calvin M. Bradley (B)
T/Sgt James M. Lucia (RO)
T/Sgt Claude L. Cope (E)
S/Sgt Ralph R. Hamar (BTG)
S/Sgt James B. HENDEE (RWG)
S/Sgt Colin B. Whitaker (LWG)
S/Sgt John C. Nelson (TG).

The aircraft was brought back to England on 15 Jun 45.

MISTAH CHICK, which crash-landed at Halmstad on the same day, was B-24J-75 CO 42-100146 from 567th Sq (HP U-). According to MACR 5924, its crew consisted of:

1/Lt Ralph I. Leslie (P)
1/Lt Ralph E. Williams (CP)
2/Lt James T. Ryan (N)
2/Lt Veto A. Iavecchia (B)
T/Sgt Robert H. Rumary (RO)
T/Sgt George E. Rake (E)
S/Sgt Neil E. Park (BTG)
S/Sgt Donald B. Hudspeth (RWG)
S/Sgt Eugene R. Garner (LWG)
S/Sgt Charles R. Campbell (TG)
Maj. John D. Young was also on board.

I have no contact with any of the members of either crew but perhaps someone else will be able to help you with addresses.

Tom Brittan.

I omitted to mention that you will find three photos of PRINCESS KONOCTI at this site, one of which is an aerial view of the aircraft on the ground taken after the landing in Sweden. (PIC 3)
