A nice but slightly flawed analogy...by Earthborn (no login)
The boat has a hole in it for no fault of its own! It didn't itself decide to have a hole.
And if you REALLY love the boat, would you just throw it away or burn it in flames? If you can fix the boat what is stopping you?
And what if it is only a very small hole... it isn't even under the water line, so the boat will not sink because of it... Why not just start loving it exactly the way it is? Why not just accept it has a hole... perhaps even think it makes it special in some strange way? Thinking that repairing it would damaged it in some strange metaphysical way, because it would take away the way in which it is special...
