Assuming you did have each finger represent a power of 10(ten).
How would you represent 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,or 9?

Assuming this is powers of ten and not two.

0000000000 zero
0000000001 one
0000000010 ten
0000000011 eleven
0000000100 one hundred
0000000101 one hundred and one
0000000110 one hundred and ten
0000000111 one hundred and eleven
0000001000 one thousand

Sure you reach high numbers,but you'r skipping most of the numbers.
