You might really find NewBasic to your liking. The general idea is to make virtually no changes to the language. For instance, you can keep on using TIMER and INKEY$ loops; they get optimised into more efficient event-waits by the compiler. That's what I'm aiming for, anyway; whether we'll get there - well, I think we will, but don't want to instill any false hope. Just like QB 4.5, if you want to extend the functionality, you can add a library! Except NB will work with 32-bit libraries. So you can network and so forth quite easily. Stay tuned... |
