I couldn't agree more (except for the part about "-lang QB" holding FB back, it's existence doesn't much hamper development of new or existing features). But FB has never claimed to aim to compile any and all QB source. The syntax has always been the most important, and sometimes behavior would be changed/reverted to suit QB users (no need to thank the dev team..). Unfortunately, FB has inherited much of the suckiness about QB in the process.

What do you mean by "trying to combine new and old technology" and what makes you think it's "not working out" ?
But anyway, I don't think too many FB devs are 'worrying' about QB-code compatibility - there are items in the TODO list, but frankly it's just not needed for the majority of the community, who are using FB to write new programs.
(relax, there are plenty of FB-friendly QB sites out there, in fact I can only think of this particular site (the.. 8 ppl that post here.. ?) that hates FB so much/at all/makes an issue out of it.)
