One rep. That was a goal I set when I started weight training.

Anyway, one rep at 300 was a lot faster than doing 300 push-ups, And speaking of 300 push-ups, this really old dude, named Jack LaLane, probably can still do 300 push-ups. I think he used to do 1,000 in his younger days. Of course there are two different types of muscle involved in repetitious light to medium weights and short-burst heavy weight lifting activities. I progressed in moving up in weight faster than the trainers at my gym, because I had a better understanding of both my own genetic makeup and muscle physiology.
