http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqarchives/last_event/states/states_texas.php Considering that that URL points to the "last_event", I wouldn't expect that URL to point to the correct earthquake for very long. Magnitude 4.6 Date-Time Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 12:24:40 (UTC) - Coordinated Universal Time Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 07:24:40 AM - Local Time at Epicenter Location 28.81N 98.15W Depth 5.0 kilometers According to Google Maps, that's just northwest of Fashing, in Karnes County. It is southwest of Falls City and Poth, west-southwest of Karnes City, west of Kenedy, and south of Floresville. Looking at the scale, it seems roughly 15 miles away from us, just west of due south. We live on FM541, about 4.5 miles west of Poth, between CR205 and CR206, east of FM1344. The Falls City area has had several earthquakes in the past few years, but I tend to sleep through them. This one I definitely felt. It's the main story on San Antonio's noon TV news broadcasts right now. Regards, Michael P.S. There is a lot of oil/gas drilling in the Eagle Ford Shale now, but I doubt that was the cause. There is a fault in the Falls City area, I think.
