had its last regular broadcast last week.
I used to listen to it often on the local NPR affiliate, KSTX 89.1 FM San Antonio, especially when I had a newspaper route. While I still occasionally listened to it on the radio, nowadays, I haven't been listening to it regularly. Instead, I have been regularly downloading, archiving, and listening to the Global News podcast (http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/globalnews ) which incorporated material from The World Today, World Briefing, and Newshour.
However, if I happened to be in my vehicle in the late night, or early morning, I would tune in and hear The World Today.
Not anymore. :'-(
I will miss it.
Today, just before they expired, I managed to listen to the last hour and a half (20th of July, 6 to 7:30 GMT) from the BBC website, and used Cam Studio to record the audio. A few hours later, and they would have been removed, and I would have been too late.
Here is a rough approximation of parts of The World Today theme music:
PLAY "o3l8 f+ede<b"
PLAY "p8 <b"
PLAY "<b" 'unsure of this one
PLAY "p4" 'miscellaneous
PLAY "o3l8 f+ede<f+de"
If anyone knows where there might be sheet music for it, please let me know.
