you say you want to fight with the men,
what's more i can see it in you eyes
but there is something you need to realise
men have the strength of arm
they go through life swinging their swords
they strike, they destroy.
But there is something more to combat
something they forget
it is harder to sit in the dark
- away from the fight-
not knowing how the battle goes
than to be fighting in the middle of it.
women have the strength of will.
we are the shield
the shield must hold
even when the sword breaks
and protect the body
we take the blows of pain and swords
with an iron spine, shrug them off
and keep on going
and so we protect and continue
the human race
we bear children, and with them hope
long after we know the pain of it.
for with them come hope and joy and love
the things that make this dark world
worth living in. we are the shields,
the iron wills,
that protect this race,
and the joy and hope and love,
that keep it going on
and keep it going on good, and right
and worth swinging a sword for.
