Game freeze problem

Hi,

when I start the game and get the space ship to crash, the video freezes after the bot comes out.

I know that ages ago, Halbschatten asked about this and found a solution using new Indeo drivers, but they are no longer available for free, not even for XP users.

In the meantime, I found a review talking about "don't expect it to run with Indeo installed" (which might apply to a Mac, though), so I used regsvr32 to disable all indeo codecs - still no change. (I enabled them again).

BTW: The video files that are installed are all Cinepak encoded, so why do I need Indeo ?

Have there been any updates to this problem ? I read through the forum, but found only wild banter

Please let me know if you have anything new that might help me. Thanks!

So you are XP user?
Then you easily can set the compatillity to 'Win 98' (righ-click the installed sst.exe, chose properties and check for win 98 mode, press ok and start the game)

Sorry, these tech.-pages here are no longer in intensive care...

Actually, I am running Windows 98 SE.

Come to think of it: I managed to get it to work, but I have no idea how I did it ...

I must have done something, like install the newest indeo 5 or whatever, but it works now - althoug the video files still are only cinepak.

BTW: I did not find a link to indeo 5 that offered free download, so I found a version somewhere else (and that is as many info as I am willing to give - sorry...).

About the codecs.. if you don't care this page is in German language you can download it HERE although I still do not know if it IS neccessary or not.

Glad you've got it finally running. Enjoy and come back for any question (you Will have questions) or just chatting.

Heh, I don't mind about the page being in German - I used to live there

Thanks a lot!

And yes, sooner or later I WILL most likely come back - unless I get frustrated with it, delete it, smash the PC against the wall, look through the new hole in the wall and wonder who can fix a computer that has been smashed through the wall and a wall through which a computer has been smashed...
