I've always heard that it's
new
brooms which sweep clean;
An old broom might be a dirty old has-been;
With failing vision, unable to see the dirt -
And grotty bristles. Long past it, that's a cert.

I used to have a kitchen wall plaque with this message on it...lol..I think one of the kids trashed it.
