Burning Starship Titanic on DVD?

Well, I thought I could add something near the end here.

I don't know if a DVD edition was available when I bought the Starship Titanic game, but I only had a CD-ROM player. Even if I've had a DVD-ROM for some time now, I only recently got a new PC with a DVD burner. I wondered -- is it possible to burn all the four CDs onto a DVD and make it playable? The best thing, of course, would be if I could also apply the patches. Even a full install seemed to insist on the occasional disc change.

And now that I've finally got a PC with a proper TV out, I'd really like to try to enjoy the game with my TV set and stereo. My PC speakers really don't do the music justice.

Should be possible, I guess. Haven't had a look on the CD's and count the available space yet but I think there's huge space on a DVD disc.
It is possible to burn the entire set of CD's as a copy on CD (as my hubby did to save my original discs from exessive usage by my sons).

Obviously, space isn't a problem. What I wonder is if the game will be able to find all the files on the disc without Fentible showing up and asking me to replace it. I expect that the four CD copies you mention were copied directly from the original disc images, which I can't do if I copy all the CDs to a single DVD. For instance, the CDs have different volume IDs, and there can obviously only be one volume for one DVD. Also, I'd have a big problem if there are different files with the same names on different discs.

Can anyone tell me what the volume tag is for the DVD edition?

I've used a little too much disc space recently, so I need to clean out my hard disc a little before I start to experiment.

(Edit. I suddenly realized that I was posting with my old, defunct email address. Fixed now. Will this cause a return to the olden days of a zillion spam messages per day?)
