Recznik (proektnik "Slovianski jezik") pisal:

...the vocabulary is also crazy in Slovio.
They invented new words ..... like "slovknig" for dictionary and "jazika" for language ... while they use "jazik" for tongue. A distinction that only English has. Whereas most other langauges have the same word for language and tongue...

Ja otvetijm:

Slovknig is a good example for Slovio´s strength: This word at least 500 Million poeple (those who have knowledge of a basic vocabulary of a Slavic lagnuage) will understand it without having to learn it. Your word "slovnik" is only used in the west, in the east we say slovar and in the south recxnik. The endings -nik and -ar are used in Slovio for persons only.

Concerning jazika (language) your are completely wrong:

Serbocroatish: jezika, jezik, govor
Spanish: el idioma, la lengua, el habla, el lenguaje
Slovio: jazik (poezju jazika), jazika, gvor i mova
Project Slovianski: jezik (poor!)

The more words you have for „language“ (of course with a slight difference in the meaning) the more powerfull a tongue will be.

Jazika is used in western slavic coiuntries. Slvak Polish Cech and Ukraj will know it, and i think most other slavs will understand if they devote 2 seconds of time to thinking about it...

I'm sure you've experienced being arround other slavic languages.. you will know that it is hard to understand for about 10-20 min then after a few beers and a little less thinking they work themselves out and you can understand nearly all of it and follow conversations very well!

if anything these new words are usually part of another slavic dialect and will at least broaden your knowledge!

S pozdravom

slovnik is a perfectly good ukrainian word too

the best solution is probably kniga slovnik

what's wrong with using two words for that concept?

Slovio is using two words:

slov(nik) + knig(a) = slovknig; If you are a good player of the game “scrabble” you will immediately realize that the word slovnik is included in slovknig. Who does not understand: word-book?

because kniga slovnik sounds better because it's actually a valid Ukrainian phrase
and why is it combined slovknig? It's like they are following the pattern slovju kniga instead of the pattern kniga slovnik. What is more Slavic, slovju kniga, playing scrabble to make new words, or kniga slovnik?

Who decides what is Slavic and what not?

Kniga slovnik means: Book word-book. So slovju kniga or the shorter version slovknig is better. Because also in language there is a low of economics:
As much as required, as less as needed!
