F.W. pisal:
...Slovio ... is a middle dialect of the Slavic languages (dialects). You can compare it to German ... It is a middle dialect of German dialects. (...)
Unlike Esperanto Slovio is understood by hundreds of millions of Slavic speakers. Esperanto and other conlangs are not understood without learning.

For me Slovio is similar to German (Hochdeutsch). Creator of the new-high German language was Martin Luther who translated the Bible into his German using mainly middle- and highland German dialects).
German is not a dialect (natural tongue, narecxie) and not a middle dialect, it is like Slovio, a constructed language. No German, speaking only his mothertongue, would be able to understand Hochdeutsch without learning it.
Slovio´s slogan should be corrected: Slovio can easily be learnt by hundreds of millions of Slavic Speakers.
Slovio easy to learn by 400 million Slavic Speakers.

What for?

Very good question! I was asking this question myself about the so called naturalistic auxiliary languages, like Sl-N and Interlingua. For the first I had and have no answer (maybe just self-brain-masturbation of the creator and one or two Enlighteners). For the last my wife a Bolivian told me that she would never think of looking at it, better she would learn another Romance language.
But back to your question. Why learn Slovio?
1.Slovio is an opener (starting-tool) for non-Slavs who want / or have to learn one or more Slavic languages
2.Slovio is a gift for expatriated Slavs who live for long even for generations especially in Romance and Germanic speaking countries. And who, after looking at declination tables of any Slavic languages, give it up to be perfect in their own mother tongue.
3.Slovio is great to be used in foreign countries where Slavs of different nations meet each other. (Ioannes created with his Slavic friends an easy-to-learn-language for their communication in England, great!)
4.I use Slovio to contact different Slavic organisations. And they do understand me.
5.In Slavic forums like here I have almost no problem to communicate using Slovio.
6.i tak dalej
I am sure other users of Slovio will find more interesting answers to your questions like me.
Ioannes:
Yes, but you have to learn each word separately because otherwise you' ll be
just pasive listener [not able to speak to others].

Pocx? Obiasnij!
Naivazxnuj slovis (struktur-slovis, n.pr. ja, ti, kak itd.)es znalju do pocxti vse Slavs. Kazxd Slav onimis zant.
Because when I use Slovak or Czech languages as my nature languages [their vocabularies] I must learn Slovio words from the bigining.
These two word stocks differ so enough that I AM NOT able to speak or write
in Slovio without learning each word separately.
Of course, on the other hand, I understand Slovio quite well without learning
but I am telling you once again : I AM NOT ABLE TO SPEAK OR WRITE IN SLOVIO
in an active form WITHOUT LEARNING THESE SLOVIO WORDS.
Nobody can speak / write in Slovio without learn this language, even when
he/she would just understand this language.
The same problem is [probably] in all so-called present day pan-slavic artificial languages [slovianski, slovano, slavisk, etc.]

When the situation suits your purpose, you say that Slovio is a Slavic Esperanto (or that it is as easy as or even easier than Esperanto). In other situations, when the situation suits your purpose, you claim that Slovio is a natural fusion of Slavic languages (which I would interpret as "Slavic Interlingua").
Slovio advertisers, please make up your mind, Slovio can't be both.
