Luckily Russia of nowadays s quite different, and though support for Kosovar independence would ultimately raise our chances to acquire new territories (Abkhazia, South Osetia, Transnistria), we consider protection of the principle of legitimacy and national souvereignity more important than momentary political interests.
A little correction to the point 1. The countries should be illegitimate ones. The less legitimate a country is the more it has to stick to its patrons.
