Saratov has been chosen the capital of the "Day of Slavic Written Language and Culture" in 2009. The festivities will last from May 17th to 24th, on which days will be held a solemn opening and consecration of a monument to the early apostolic Saints Cyril and Methodius, the creators of the Slavic alphabet.
