I was out yesterday at my horse, and he had gone down the far side of the field as usual so down I walked. As I reached the far side I noticed that the fence on one side was looking to have fallen slightly so I went over to check it out. Now this end of the field is always water logged and muddy but I had my wellies on so I wasn't really bothered. As I started to walk over the marshy bit my feet started sinking, only to my ankles at first, this didn't bother me as we have all trudged through ankle deep mud before, our gate entrance is like this so on I went. After just a couple of steps it got harder to pull my boots out, and I was struggling not to have my boots sucked off my feet! Then one step my right boot went in nearly up to the top and my momentum carried my left boot next to it. I stopped moving and started thinking that this was not a good idea! I tried pulling on my right foot then left foot but was stuck. I could only feel my foot slowly slipping out of my boot. I was only 10 - 12 feet away from the fence but could not move towards it without having abandoning my wellies. after five minutes I decided just to leave them and head diagonally towards the fence. first my right foot slipped out of my wellie and I had to put my sock down into more thick deep mud. This time it was over my knee! i followed with my left foot and stood there balancing on one leg, except my right leg was now thigh deep, I remember I started to panic and quickly put my left leg down again, and you can guess, I was now completely stuck and nearly up to my waist in mud!! I could not move and the fence was still about 6 feet away! I was a bit scared! I knew my friend was coming down to the field soon, so I started shouting her name and sure enough she appeared about five minutes later. She ran down to where I was and started wading through the mud towards me until she came to a halt her boots stuck fast. I told her to try and turn back and get the farmer, she did but left her wellies stuck fast in the mud and fell flat on her face, I could not help laughing! She crawled out of the marshy bit and ran back up the field in only her socks. She got the farmer and he pulled me out. We all started laughing and he gave us a lift home. We were covered in mud and both me and my friend had lost our wellies! I think we will stay away from that marshy bit again!!

What’s the worst mud that you have ever been in?
Have you ever lost your wellies like that before?
love and hugs, kim
