Dear Friends of Inexplicata:
It was with a mixture of amazement and amusement that I read the following two paragraphs, which were forwarded to me by a friend in Australia. It seems that Santiago Yturria, whose information I have always circulated when he has sent it to me, is now accusing me of somehow being "a disinformer" and of having a grudge against him and his principal, Mr. Maussan.
For the record, I don't know either of these gentlemen.
These are the two paragraphs in question:
"The recent discredit campaign against the case and the Mexican Secretary of Defense handled by common debunkers disguised as objective researchers like Scott Corrales and his obscure Institute of Hispanic Ufology whom has a record of continued debunking attacks on every major UFO case released in Mexico and indiscriminate attacks on most of the important Mexican researchers. Corrales debunking campaign is clear publishing every negative article on the news against the case, the researcher Jaime Maussan and the Secretary of Defense General Clemente Vega as part of his hidden agenda helped by his allies like the Fundacion Cosmos group, a minor unknown Mexican amateur group of skeptic debunkers who only recollect news clips from the Mexican newspapers and the Internet."
"The Mexican Air Force UFO incident is certainly a high level case of transcendental proportions in our Ufology and one of the world's most important breaking news in recent times. It's useless the effort that debunkers like Rafael Navarro, Scott Corrales and the other skeptics are doing to disqualify the case and discredit Secretary of Defense General Vega trying to change the course of history. There's no way back and history has been written."
Okay, let me see if I got this right: not singing the praises of Mr. Maussan makes me a disinformer and indiscriminate attacker? The Institute of Hispanic Ufology, which is obscure because none of its members have been particularly interested in appearing on television or in conferences, is a vehicle for providing information to the UFO community at large, not a platform to further the claims of one particular researcher or another.
IHU makes no claims as to its importance, nor do I have any delusions as to my own place in the scheme of things. However, I will take exception at seeing the members of Fundacion Cosmos, AC or Centro de Estudios de Fenomenos Paranormales (CEFP) described as "minor amateur groups", much less "skeptic debunkers", which they most certainly are not now, nor have ever been.
In fact, in its role as "the little engine that could", IHU's journal--INEXPLICATA-- has been able to feature the work of some truly gifted researchers whose credentials cannot be impeached by Mr. Yturria's insinuations: Manuel Carballal, Josep Guijarro, Rafael Lara Palmeros, Carlos Iurchuk, Guillermo Gimenez, Lucy Guzman, Magdalena Freixedo and Javier Garcia Blanco, aside from contributions from giants in the field like Bob Pratt, George Andrews and Salvador Freixedo.
So that's my reply to Mr. Yturria's letter. I return to the isolation of my cybernetic cave to keep bringing you the latest information on UFO and paranormal happenings in Spain, the Caribbean, Central and South America.
Very best regards,
Scott Corrales
