"Phenomena Recorded from SEDENA Aircraft are Ball Lightning or Electrical Discharges"

***UNAM researchers dismissed the possibility that the are objects or vehicles containing extraterrestrials.

***They requested copies of the video from the Secretariat of National Defense along with technical data on the sighting in order to carry out deeper studies and come up with a definite scientific answer.

Scientist of UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico) reported that the phenomena recorded on video from an aircraft belonging to the Secretariat of Defense (SEDENA) are ball lightning or electrical discharges, which could have appeared in the upper layers of the atmosphere for the first time. They made it clear that they are not objects or vehicles containing extraterrestrials.

The asked the Federal agency to provide them with a copy of the recording and technical data employed which allowed the observation of these lights in order to pursue deeper studies and come up with a definite scientific answer. They stated that this research institution and public universities have sufficient experts capable of performing such research.

In this press conference regarding "El video de los ovnis" (The UFO video), the director and researcher of the Astronomical Institute, Jose de Jesus Franco Lopez and Armando Arellano Ferro, respectively, as well as academicians Rafael Navarro Gonzalez and Julio Herrera Velằuez of the Instituto de Ciencias Nucleares (ICN) pointed out that this new tool could enable Mexico to take a step forward in the sciences and take the lead in the study of uncommon and unusual phenomena.

The experts denied that there is any evidence regarding the possibility that intelligent life has visited Earth in the past, although they did not dismiss the presence of life somewhere in the Universe.

Franco Lopez explained that the definition of UFO is "unidentified flying object", which occupies several categories. However, to go from there to saying that they are occupied by extraterrestrials "represents a gigantic leap, and the answer then becomes no."

To compare a living being with a human being isn't the same, he argued. A flying object has nothing to do with an extraterrestrial point of origin.

He acknowledged SEDENA's serious work, which relies upon a series of adequate instruments and experts with whom scholars would wish to exchange points of view.

The director of the IA stated that it is not possible to present any conclusions, since the characteristics of the infrared camera a re unknown, as well as the distance to the lights, their speed, size and temperature, among other details.

In turn, Rafael Navarro Gonzalez showed a micro-scale example of the ball lightining, similar to what was seen by the Mexican Air Force pilots. He stated that the plasma phenomenon could explain the presence of objects found in the clouds over Campeche. He explained that after having seen the images for the first time over television, his direct interpretation was that [they were] meteorites or space junk falling into the atmosphere.

A day later, his conclusion regarding the video is that the phenomenon was seen in the clouds; the pilots could not see the spheres, but they were picked up on radar, which only detected the two first ones propagated in the atmosphere. However, an infrared camera was able to detect others originating in the rear section.

He found the pilot's testimony interesting in the sense that after exploring said presence for several minutes, the pilots retreated when the spheres began to approach.

Ball lightning, he argued, is an atmospheric electrification phenomenon that is seldom seen and has not been adequately studied. The phenomenon [consists of] ionized gas, luminous spheres, whose temperatures are not sufficiently high to emit them [sic] and thus make them visible. This type of event includes aurora borealis, so tenuous that it can only be seen in winter and at night.

For this reason, the military men weren't able to see them in plain sight, but were able to detect them through radar and infrared.

He added that ball lightning propagates horizontally, as shown in the SEDENA video. It occupies the same plane as the clouds and move together with the aircraft, since ball lightning is an unbalanced gas.

Its chemial and physical principles are unknown, but it can be concluded that they were seen with some difficulty due to being very tenuous. However, it is likely that they could not be picked up by radar in front section of the discharge's propagation.Given that the gas is hot and the ions are at a high temperature, he explained, it emits infrared, making it observable through a camera. Since all electrical discharges tend to be neutralized by metal --material with which the aircraft was built -- it tried to approach the aircraft.

In his own presentation, Julio Herrera Velằuez of the ICN explained that ball lightning is a manifestation of the state of matter known as plasma, which is related to fire.

Abounding on this, he went on to say that 99% of the observable matter in the universe is in this state, and is capable of emitting electromagnetic waves. The radar wavelengths as well as those of the aircraft, he added, are what is needed to reflect densities such as that of a bolt of lightning. However--he added--it is according to the plama's density that it may be observed, because it may be very tenous, to the extent that a radar wave can penetrate it without reflecting it. In this case, the ball lightning's characteristics allowed its detection through the infrared camera. It is, he stressed, a highly interesting meteorological phenomenon that is seldom seen. In science, he noted, the goal is to rationalize things in the search for the simplest and likeliest result.

Meanwhile, Armando Arellano Ferro of the IA made it clear that scientist do not deny and will never deny the possibility that biological life of another sort may have developed elsewhere in the universe.

For this reason, he expressed the possibility that there is life elsewhere in the Universe, but [scientists] do not know where, despite the fact that the scientific community has sent signals and made efforts for finding extraterrestrial evidence over the decades. He invited society at large to search for scientific reasons, in order that sightings of this type may not lead to the conclusion that their origin is extraterrestrial, but rather based on logical and well-grounded explanations.

Hello,

I will try to explain why the Oil Wells Theory fits into this "unexplained" case and
at the end of this post you are invited to visit my discoveries and proof about the
FLIR video lights based on official satellite and official verifiable information from
distinguished scientists and their work with easy data available on the web.

I don't know how many of you have been flying as a pilot in command for more than 34
years, looking outside the cockpit through the windshields of an airplane when searching
through the clouds for objects, marks, runways, buildings, sea shores, obstacles or in
any circumnavigation procedure avoiding bad weather, high cloud formations (heavy cumulus,
top buildings), sand storms, you name it. Everything that has to do with a pilot's
perspective of things seen through the lateral and frontal airplane's windshield, I have
to add that to my experience when making many important flight decisions and supporting
feasible theories as the one I sustain now with verifiable information.

Visual references provide to the pilot the most important sensory information to maintain
spatial orientation on the ground and during flight, especially when the body and/or the
environment are in motion. During visual flight rules (VFR) flights, central vision allows
pilots to acquire external information to make judgments of distance, speed, and depth.

Having a clear idea of the factualness and my experience in flight visibility and how the
objects are seen between the fog or the clouds, it has to do with perspective that you'll
agree of the facts that must prevail in any UFO investigation if you are willing to
investigate objectively.

The oil well flares theory is valid because they exist and there is a possibility that
should be accepted.

What is the formula for a known airplane's altitude and the pilot's range or maximum
horizontal sighting distance? How is that at long distances the objects appear to be
at the same flying altitude while they are located on the earth's surface?

Flight Deck Perspective and situation awareness.

Situation awareness is gained by searching for and collecting information. Situation
awareness is knowing where you are and what's going on. It's “the big picture”, and one
of the very foundations of pilot's competence.

Scan pattern: Situation awareness can be seen as maintaining control over a range of
nformation sources. You do that as a pilot by looking at each source through a “scan”
pattern that you control.

Based on that perspective where the fixed objects seem to move while in reality the object
that is really moving is the airplane I repeat what I posted in my theory about the oil
wells of Cantarell field. http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/updates/2004/may/m27-011.shtml

"Please take your time to watch the video carefully and I hope you also will notice what I
discovered some days ago about the Cantarell oil field in the Campeche Bay located in the
Gulf of Mexico, I insist, precisely in front of Ciudad del Carmen City from which the oil
wells are not to far away (50 to 90 Km from the shore.)

"The objects (lights) are in a fixed position with a dark background (the sea) while the
camera on board is following the lights that are showing in the screen as a very brilliant
source of light. There is a great distortion as there is no sign of an object but only
light. Take your time and repeat the video. Try to focus as if the lights are STEADY and
the camera movements shows when turning in his axis that the clouds move sometimes rapidly
and then suddenly they stop moving while the lights (UFO's) never changed their formation
neither their speed."

"If you take your time you will see the fact that the lights are always steady if we repeat
the scene and see at the very bottom of the FLIR screen that the AZIMUTH (Az) NEVER CHANGES
more than TWO or FOUR degrees."

The FLIR video shows many bright lights, 11 by the FLIR operator (not a specialist) and 16
as counted by TELEVISA's most respected News Anchor Man Joaquin Lopez-Doriga in Mexico.

See:

"A local television network on Tuesday broadcast a videotape by the Mexican Air Force,
showing the images of 16 unidentified flying objects (UFO) detected in the southern state
of Campeche." http://www.ufoevidence.org/news/article84.htm

I saw the news program that day where Lopez-Doriga showed on national TV 16 lights graphically
counted and pointed one by one in a video.

UFOs filmed over Mexico.
>From correspondents in Mexico City
http://news.com.au/common/story_page/0,4057,9540458%255E13762,00.html

Why the Mexican Air Force "experts" didn't advise if they know about those 16 lights (UFO's)?

How is that the mexican air force experts didn't detect those 16 lights in a obligated
investigation? Is Lopez-Doriga better investigator than Maussan and Mexican Air Force experts?

Why Jaime Maussan never mentioned those 16 lights?
Is it because of a floppy investigation or what?
Is something hiding on purpose? It is a cover-up?

But now, apart from the above here is the truth.

Visit the following chart from The National System forGeospatial-Intelligence (NSG) to
calculate the horizon: http://pollux.nss.nima.mil/calc/horizon.html

Input 11500 ft altitude and you will see how the oil wells match the airplane and the horizon's
distance based on data from DMSP (Defense Meteorological Satellite Program):
http://dmsp.ngdc.noaa.gov/html/download_world_change_pair.html

See image created by James Smith who used the DMSP satellite data to confirm the location and
brightness of the Cantarell platforms and used a 3D computer (3DMAX) program to match the azimuth
angles and flight path coordinates that fit almost exactly.

Image that coincides exactly with Laurent Léger's graphic who received information from
Bruce Maccabee on the article's page from Gildas Bourdais:

I sustain my posture regarding my own experience.

I could be wrong, but unless the truth about this case is known any logical explanation
should be analyzed deeply.

I would like to emphasize that I am not a debunker nor a blind sceptic. I am an independent
UFO investigator since 1963 and I believe in UFO's and extraterrestrial intelligent beings.

There is a coincidence that I am a pilot and some Maussan's hoaxes have to do with aviation,
the only one information that I have posted in UFO UpDates since Dec 13,2003 regardless of
many other hoaxes related to a known hoaxer as Jaime Maussan.

Maussan Makes Prediction For 12-12-03 -Franz

I exposed the case of Aeromexico's DC9 and a UFO collision as a hoax and still sustain what I posted and what is inside the web page of the investigation.

There are more than 10 TEN hoaxes I can prove to you.
