I have a Hi-Score 809, and I would like to know, if the main spring can be lubricated without any disassembly ( other than removal of the stock ). Is there a commonly available oil that can be used for this purpose? Thanks in advance for your help. I just discovered this forum last week, very happy to find it.

For a proper lubrication, you really need an airgunsmith familiar with the 809 to rebuild it using modern moly lubricants and spring tar. What you can do via the cocking slot is extremely minimal. At best, you could poke some moly paste eg Beeman M2M in around the spring and hope it stays there or maybe a few drops of Beeman Spring Oil along the coils. However, you're going to be able to do much for the piston.
Spend some money now with a professional, get it right and enjoy shooting it.

Hy-Score Air rifle

October 26 2005, 6:19 PM

Dear Lewis:

I saw your answer to a message regarding "spring oil" for a Hy-Score mod 809 air rifle.

I recently obtained the same type of rifle and I would like to know more about it.

Can you help direct me to resoures that would tell me about this rifle?

Thanks,

Suzanne
