I have tried 2 different rws c mounts & cannot for the life of me get them to fit in the hole on the rail and mount at the same time. The peg that goes into the rail hole seems to be too long and the holes in both c mounts seem to be off center to the rail mount hole. What gives? Any help?

tia.

Thanks,

Since no one has offered I'll try.

First off most stop pins can be tapped further into the mount. But make darn sure you want to do that first because in some mounts they can be a real PIA to get back out. Just tap it lightly with a hammer till the pin just barely clears the bottom of the hole in the scope rail. As for the holes not lineing up, well is it possible you are trying to put the mount on backwards? IE- the front now should really be the back? I'm not familar with the 'C' mount, but with the Beeman one piece adjustables the end that moves up or down vs the fixed end goes to the rear. Jim

I recieved my 34 about 3 weeks ago. It is a combo unit that came with the scope and the same mount you have. Mine didn't fit either, same as yours the pin is too long. With the mount also came a pin without that fit flush with the mount. I used that one. I used some blue Loctite, tightened it up and let it cure for 24 hours.
You could place the in in a padded vise and with careful filing reduce it's length.
If you take the route I took you may also buy a mount block. It clamps to the scope rail as additional piece of mind. They run about $30

Wellllll....... if the pin on the C mount is too long for 34/36 rifles...

why not tap it in? If this interferes with the function of the mount (have no experince with the 'C') why not take a Dremel w/cutoff wheel and whack the offending portion off? Reblue the end of the pin for rust prevention and mount as normal? Just a thought. Jim

I have the 34 and a C mount for it. I've had them for 12-14 years. Unless you want to get fancy and start tapping things the best thing to do is let the pin drop over the front of the rail. I did this for years until I found a one piece Marksman mount that worked better. With the pin over the front of the rail the C mount looks a little off but at least you know it's not going anywhere.

Thanks everyone for the info. I tried the c mount forwards, backwards & every way I could imagine. I could file it down, but I think we're missing the point of the fact that it is a mount made by RWS for RWS rifles & costs $54.95 plus shipping. It should work the first time. I guess I'll return it and either get a B-Square or just use open sights. Oh well.

Return the C and buy a Beeman one piece adjustable ...

with the high rings. Costs around $60. Point is that it is bullet proof and works. Simple adjustments for both windage and elevation. Great mount for the droop your 34/36 will have. Jim

5039 has a pin also...

And so does the 5040, 30, etc..... I've had to move them a bit on every mount. It is very easy and it can be put back to where it was if you like. Like you said Super.....move the pin. Scott
