That is a complex question ..

but I will try to simplify . It depends on the velocity of your gun weight of the pellet and the balistic coeficient of the pellet you are using .
For a gun that is shooting 7.9gr crosman pointed pellets with a bc of .026 at a velocity of 800fps ,
if you sight it in at 35yds you will be within .5 inch up or down from 10yds to 40 yds .
you can use the program chairgun ..and play with it a bit .

Regards , Frank

without the balistic coeficient it would be impossible to

make an exact calculation , but if the pellet has a bc similar to the cr pointed the numbers are even better as the velocity is higher ..still best to zero at 35yds and you will be well within .5 inch from 10 to 40 yds ..mostly .25 inch , at 45yds you will need to holdover 1 inch and at 50 yds holdover 2inches.

Jamie ..I think the velocity number you gave me ..

January 27 2005, 7:43 PM

is way too high for the RWS 34 ..Did you chronograph the gun ..?
I hate to break it to you ..but manufacturers often inflate the #'s to sell there guns .
the RWS 34 will more typicaly shoot at 830fps in .177 7.9gr and 650fps in .22 14.3gr.about 13.6 fpe
the number you gave would make it the most powerful springer in the world..(out shooting the webley patriot).
A question for you why do you want to shoot at 50m ..? why not get in close 25 -30 m ant take your shot ..you do need accurate shot placement to humanely kill an animal.

The figures you quote

are not universal either. My Model 38 shoots 13.8 grain pellets at 755-760fps and my model 38 in .177 shoots BSA 7.5 grain pellets at 985fps. Both these guns are well beyond the 13fpe range. But then again, they are Model 38's as opposed to the 34 (same action as the 34 however) but both exhibit firing behaviour that is much better than the Model 34 I used to have. At the same time, this may just be a coincidence. Both are from circa 1990 with the original springs and internals.

Better you look alone.
So, i can tell you 26 yrds is perfect for your .22 gun, very flat.
After you will have 10 cm every 10 meter.
After 46 yards you will have 25 cm every 10 meter.
Try!!!
If you set to 10 meter you have set also to 35 meters, i think.
Bye and tell me if its real!!!
I shot with 350 magnum .22 and when i set to 10 meter i have set also to 45 meter.

Jamie, Use 25yds for sight in.....Shoot 5 shot groups

February 11 2005, 4:13 PM

ane adjust your scope so the CENTER of your group is 1/2" high at 25yds. With your gun you will be good for a squirrel head to 38yds without adjusting or holding over. Then for long range, hold over the top of the squirrel head about the top of his ears to 50yds. That is the LONGEST shot to take on game.
