Sopmeone on the yellow forum pointed out that the seller has all of one negative evaluation in which the buyer gives him an F- for not fulfilling the deal. So, caveat emptor! RedFeather
I remeber some RWS models in the Beeman catalogue in the early mid 80's. Whatever lead to beeman and rws parting ways? Also- is that lower frame on that pistol actually metal or are those polished metal sideplates glued to the plastic. Fine looking gun (minus the logo, of course). Seems to have a little different barrel there, too. Anyone ever owned one of this vintage?
The good Dr. Beeman always claimed that he just didn't like Dianas, and had found better guns to sell. My personal opinion (and it is ONLY that) is that sales of Diana products through Beeman were disappointing, prompting Diana to set up a more closely-controlled distributor via RWS. When Beeman had Diana in his catalogs, he pushed their recoilless match guns very enthusiastically, but seemed a bit lukewarm over their bread-and-butter sporter rifles compared to his well-established Weihrauch products. So perhaps there is some truth to both angles.
In later years the lower frame did change to plastic on the models 5 and 6 pistols, but on earlier examples like this one it was cast metal with a painted finish. IMHO the plastic looks just as good really, and has more hand-friendly rounded corners as well.
The "different" barrel is from the model 10 full-race match pistol of the time. It has a plastic shroud which rotates 180 degrees to protect your hand from the front sight when cocking. The model 6G pistol had a hooded front sight which is illegal in official competition, so the 6M was created to fix this.
I used to have one of these pistols, and like all the Diana opposing-piston Giss-action guns, it was a fabulous shooter. The trigger was very good. My only complaint was the sights. The model 10 had a much lower rear sight than the model 6 series, and mixing the model 10 and model 6 rear sights gave me a gun that was very difficult to sight-in at 10 meters. Even with the rear sight as low as it would go and using a "6-o'clock" hold, it shot high.
Been a while since we connected (perhaps Roanoke 2003?). Anyway, your problem with the 10M was opposite mine (where no matter how much I adjust upward, shots are low). I run out of travel to elevate POI. It's frustrating. Only solution I can think of at the moment is to re-train for new POA. Thoughts please. Thanks in advance. Craig
