light or heavy piston?

everything else being equal , does anybody know which one gives you more speed?
I am trying to tune up my Diana 52.I allredy went thru the original spring , a Macari tune and now a second original replacement.

If you're talking all stock parts (spring, etc) then someone may have tried adding weight to the piston and could tell you for your particular gun. I've seen cases where adding weight increased velocity and cases where adding weight decreased velocity. Just make sure that "added weight" didn't also result in added "spacing" because if so it might not be the weight that makes the difference. Also, you might find that additional piston mass can increase velocity but the firing behavior of the gun becomes more harsh. Just pay attention to things like that when changing piston mass because you might decide that any velocity gain is not worth it.

the rule of thumb is that a heavy pellet requires a heavy piston, a light pellet requires a light piston.

Start by defining what you want to do.

If you have already "tired" a Maccari spring, odds are you are way over the line one way or another.
