Guys, please forgive me as I've posted this before, but I've been having trouble posting pics and am trying a new angle.
The choice of subject seemed appropriate given the lovely model 35 that 6talldog posted yesterday! This is an early example of the model 35 from the 1950's, a .22 caliber target version imported by Stoeger Arms under the "Peerless" brand name. It is set up for target shooting, with the classic front sight sporting 4 different posts on a rotating "star," and the rear sight that can be used either as an open sight (mounted on the breech block) or target aperture sight (mounted on rear dovetail with clamp-on peep disk).
These early guns have quite a few differences from the later and more familiar version of the 35. Besides the sights, note the tapered barrel, different stock, very short rear dovetail, and alloy trigger blade.
