What kind of groups are you all getting and at what distance. Is there a certain pellet that stands out? All input is greatly appreciated!!

I generally don't measure airgun groups

February 22 2005, 2:15 PM

but 16 grain JSB 5.52's work very well in my 350M. I don't know what the velocity is but it is a 23fpe gun with another .22 cal pellet weighing in at 13.8gr. These other pellets, by the way, generally result in a one foot pound increse in muzzle energy in virtually all my .22's. They are fairly accurate, too. They are English made domes (not Milbros) distributed in Canada as "Kassner" pellets and come in a metal can with an orange twist top lid.
I don't care for Crosman Premiers at all as the ones I have tried were inconsistent dimensionally, ie., some fit OK, some were a little loose, and some were ... well, you get the idea. All in all, I have been very, very impressed with the JSB's. And at CDN $45 to $50 a sleeve, they are a genuine bargain. That being said, I would really prefer a mid 14 grain pellet with a good BC. Premiers may have fit this bill once but again, seem to have suffered recent QC problems. The H&N field target may be a good bet but they are much more expensive than the superb JSB's.

LESS EXPENSIVE ARE RWS
RWS HOBBY 4 CM TO 50 METERS AND VERY FLAT;
RWS SUPERDOME 4 CM TO 50 METERS BUT MORE IMPACT AND GOOD UNTIL 60-70 METERS;
RWS SUPERHALLOWPOINT GOOD UNTIL 30 METERS, 2 CM;

ABSOLUTELY NOT GOOD:
RWS SUPERPOINT
ELEY WASP 5,6
HUSTLER NEEDLE POINT
BARRACUDA MATCH 5,51

VERY GOOD:
ARLATZ (DOMED)
H&N FALKE MAGNUM

THIS ARE PELLETS I HAVE TRIED AND FOUNDED IN ITALY.
I THINK YOU CAN TRY ALSO GAMO PRO MAGNUM 5,5.

THE RWS 350 5,5 DOESN'T LIKE SUPERDOME LIKE BARRACUDA OR SIMIL, THE HEAD IS TOO LARGE AND THE PELLETS ARE TOO HEAVY.

BETTER SUPERDOME LIKE RWS SUPERDOME, WITH HEAD MORE LITTLE.

DON'T FIRE PELLETS OVER 15 GRAIN (IT'S NO GOOD FOR THE SPRING AND THE TRAIECTORY IS NOT FLAT), TO ME THEY ARE GOOD TO KILL IN 25 METERS.

TO GROUP VERY WELL RWS HOBBY ARE PERFECT (ONE HOLE TO 30 METERS).

BYE BYE.

Thanks for your input...

I have tried the Hobbies but I found that they were abit light and made the gun slam the piston harshly. Although I did find them to give decent accuracy. It's funny how the same guns differ sometimes. Mine seems to like the RWS Super Points out to about 30yards. My main reason for my post is to see whether or not the gun is capable to shoot better than what I'm getting right now. I am happy with the 350, I find it very accurate, hitting a 1 1/4" swinger at 40yards is decent( for me!). I'm just curious if the gun is capable of more. Thanks agian P!!!

DEAR DOUG,
I MUST TELL YOU THE RWS 350 LOOSE ENERGY AFTER 2.000-3.000 PELLETS AND AFTER YOU WILL FIND VERY VERY GOOD THE HOBBY PELLET.
IT BECAME LESS NERVOUS AND YOU WILL DO BETTER.
ALL POINTED PELLETS HAVE A LITTLE HEAD DIA AND ARE PERFECT FOR 350 MAGNUM BUT AFTER 25-30 METERS IS IMPOSSIBLE GROUP THEM.
SO, I HAVE NEVER DONE BETTER OF 4 CM TO 50 METERS WITH 5 SHOT BUT OFTEN I HAVE PUT 2-3 PELLETS IN A HOLE OF 6 MM, AND OFTEN WITH HOBBY.
I FIND REALLY FAST AND GOOD THE RWS SUPERDOME, BUT IF YOU WANT SHOT WHIT THEM TO 50 METERS YOU WILL TAKE NOTHING FROM 20 TO 40 METERS, THE TRAYECTORY IS 10-15 CM OVER THE CENTER, WITH HOBBY ONLY 5 CM AND YOU CAN SHOT ONLY SITHING THE CENTER.
I CAN TELL YOU ALSO THAT HOBBY TO 50 METERS IS GOOD ONLY FOR PAPER OR A CAN OF BEER.
GOOD FIRE.

P.S.
WITH SUPERDOME YOU CAN PASS A CAN OF TOMATO TO 50-60 METERS.

I USE NIKKO STIRLING GOLD CROWN 4X32 AO (PARALLAX ERROR)
IT'S PERFECT FOR 350 IN .22(45 EURO), I DON'T THINK SO FOR 350 4,5.
BETTER IF YOU PUT RUBBER AROUND THE RING

H & N Field Target Trophy

March 3 2005, 12:38 AM

I have found (after extensive testing) that H & N "Field & Target Trophy" give the best accuracy in both .22 and .177 in my 350's. In .22 @ 14.7 grains I get 800fps. In .177 @ 8.6 grains I get 1030 fps. Both group around 25mm at 35 metres. I also checked over fifteen types of pellets in a Diana mod 52 and again the H & N Field & Target Trophy were clearly better than the rest. I hope this helps. Sorry about the mixed measurement units.

Testing a Very Good Idea

March 4 2005, 8:09 AM

I tune them. While JSB's seem the perfect match due to slightly higher weight, the last 350 I had in here shot them VERY poorly. The FPE was unuasually low, velocity 100+ fps lower than either Beeman Trophy and FTS. Shooting Exacts, the gun vibrated badly, not surprising from the above. Accuracy was very poor too, but stellar with Trophy so it was not the gun.

The problem is that JSB exacts tend to run a little on the small side of .22 caliber, and this particular 350 had a bore a little on the large side of .22 caliber--you get the picture. Use of those pellets in that gun will put undue stress on shooter, scope, and mainspring.

BTW, the FTS, Trophy, and CP are good candidates. If your bore is tight enough, no reason why the Exact won't work well.

Regards,

Ed

I've tried JSBs sized at 5.51....

March 5 2005, 9:41 AM

and I did find them a bit loose. I will try the 5.52 and see how they work.

JSB

May 19 2005, 4:16 PM

I have a 350 with about 1400 pellets through it the super domes do great to about 20-25 yards (yard roughly = meter). But as they get furhter out they don't group so well.

The JSB exacts are horrid even at close range. ((Though they certainly move faster and don't drop as much at 70 meters)).

The Benijamin Sheridan Diablo so far is the best on 25-50 but I have not tried it on 70 yards yet
