Those pop-up's...

March 16 2005, 10:29 PM

 Mr Chip,

Er, ah, trust me, I had nothing to do with that! Your ISP must have added new blockers. Goodie for you!

I still get an occasional one get past my SBC/Yahoo blockers. It's the "curse" of running this free to use, Network 54 Forum Foremat!

Actually, I don't mind them, NW 54 is doing all of us a favor by letting me use this Forum space for free, If we have to "X" out an AD now and then to use the place, so be it... The Network HAS to sell advertizing, it's a business!

So far the ad's have been civil and non intruding to my computer (especally with the SBC service I now use). Right now I have a little square on the lower right of the screen that two were just blocked, so I know they still transmit with the site address.

A while back, I and several other NW 54 Forum owners filed a complaint about the really troublsome ad's and they seem to have been fixed.

 Be safe buddy,

 ZVP

Thanks for the tip!

March 17 2005, 4:24 PM

 Ora,

BTW, that is an intresting "Handle"!!!

Good tip and a "link" to go to , too.

Thank you very much for trying to help everyone!

I just use the basic SBC stuff, I do very little complex computer stuff, I'm a shooter more than being into computers, they sure are fun tho!

I started the Forum out of frustration of not being able to locate any central spot for Diana information. I was working on a HY-Score 801, and Seqrches netted nothing about the rifle, answers were few and far between on several Forums where I'd inquired about it. (Thanks to Mike Driskill and a few others, via e-mails, I learned a good bit about it's history!)

I took the suggestions of a few internet friends and took a stab at setting this place up. I wanted to just set up an informal Diana information location, free for all to use (It's blossomed to well beyond my wildest dreams!).

Network 54 was gracious enough to offer me a free Forum that was simple to set up (even for me!). It's a no frills system, very basic, and unfortunatelly has NO search, but at least the information is HERE, under one roof, and with a little work leafing back thru the pages, many questions or curiousitys may be answered or satisfyied!

I hope it benifits everyone that wishes to use it!

And a great forum it is.

March 17 2005, 4:50 PM

I've had a great deal of help from you and quite a few others over the last year and a half. Rekindled my lust for airguns after about 25 years. Thanks for your efforts.

 Don,

Thanks! Your post justifys the effort!

I took a 20 plus years hiatus away from airguns and into powder guns myself. Now it's the powder burners that are gathering dust...

Airgunning fits my semi-urban lifstyle better!

ahhh...so that's why no "search"

January 21 2006, 6:49 AM

..I had thought perhaps I needed to be a registered user before I could avail myself of a search function...but there is simply no search feature? OK...I can live with that!

I recently purchased a Diana/RWS P5 Magnum, and stumbled across your site doing a websearch for more info on the pistol. All my air pistols prior to this one had been pump pneumatics (i.e. Benjamin/Sheridan), and it's taken me some time getting used to the pistol's quirky recoil... that is to say, it was grouping well right out of the box, but actually hitting close to my sight picture took some mental adjustments. I have less than 500 pellets through it, but I can already tell this one is a "keeper". I've found some excellent info and advice here, not only regarding the P5, but airguns in general. Keep up the great work!

Getting ANYthing for free is becoming increasingly rare...remember the free ISPs? Gone... sigh. So yeah, I have to say I can live with a "bare-bones" type of msg board. It just means you have to really dig for the info you want...and you're bound to run across plenty of other interesting and helpful posts along the way.

Growing up in a semi-rural area, I had a .22 rifle and a .410 shotgun before I was 12...my own guns, gifts...how the world has changed! Just this week, our local news carried two stories about little idiots taking loaded guns to their schools. That would never have even crossed my mind, then, 30 years ago. We all need to do our parts, being responsible and careful airgun enthusiasts, lest this great sport should attract too much unwanted scrutiny. I'm sure you are all aware of the hand-wringing "Nervous Nellies" out there who'd love to take away anything even resembling a gun from us.

But I go on...and on...anyway, thanks for providing this great forum! I'm only about 5 pages deep into it so far, and have already found a lot of good info!

He's right about F.F.

March 17 2005, 9:51 PM

He is right about Mozilla Fire Fox...Since I Downloaded and made it my #1 Browzer I Very seldom get pop up problems..You have to keep I.E. as number 2 though, for some things..But F.F. and your Firewall set on HIGH and to block pops is an unbeatable combo..I have a cheap dial up ISP and between using I.E. and having Outlook Express E-Mail.....I couldn't visit a forum without getting pop ups and banners,, or check my e-mail without getting 8-20 Spams a day...Now I browze forumsin F.F. no pops, and I use Firefox Thunderbird for E-Mail and i only get 2 or 3 Spams...and they get blocked..Sorry..Ramling..I get carried away on some topics..

Well, mine are back!

March 22 2005, 11:06 PM

These aren't the regular pop-ups. My browser stops those. Well, LOL, it's supposed to. Just got a big one from Blockbuster right before I typed "stops"! What I'm seeing are these thumb-nail sized boxes in the middle of the screen that say something like Net54 in the corner. I have to close them out.

Yeah! They're back!

March 23 2005, 3:03 PM

But for a full day, it was wonderful to be able to navigate without the delay that those horrid things (even with the stoppers) introduce.

Hey Dave!

A question: How much is it to make the forum pop-up free?

Un abrazo!
