I have a question regarding airguns with controlled velocity. For instance m48 that regularly comes with 1100 fps velocity, when its velocity is controlled, how does the factory makes this change? Do they put a different spring? Do they put also different pistons and seal?

Easiest way is a different spring but could

also be reduced with a shorter-stroke piston. I doubt if one would try and control velocity with a different seal.

I've seen instances where

the piton is longer to decrease air volume (Crosman Quest 500). Weaker springs to detune aswell and I've heard that some manufactures use different transfer port sizes to modify the power output. We see alot of these detuned airguns here in Canada. That includes pneumatics and Co2.

According to Factory Schematic Diagrams

They install a special washer in the breech that reduces total airflow and thus velocity.
