Anyone has seen the all new Diana Panther model? I think its a nice design for a low weight/low velocity rifle. You can see it at airgunexpress.com in the Diana line. Airgunexpress just announced that they no longer cooperare with RWS and the company itself imports its own line of diana airguns direct from Dianawerk Germany.

Here is the link to the new Diana line. The panther model mentioned above is the first.

Neat!

March 31 2005, 7:42 PM

 Vincent,

I was going to write you a post and tell you that I had some difficulty finding that model. I must have hit the A. E. site at a BAD time during their inventory, and their computer was showing the old models...

Seems like the popularity of lower velocity, Synthetic Stocked rifles is sweeping Europe! Guess we have Gamo to blame for that trend! They started it with that interesting little Shadow 640 of theirs. Manufacturing cost factors over producing wooden stocks must be appealing!

This may be a model to watch, thanks for posting about it!

Its true..i can't find this new model either. I only saw it on March 27th and then dissapeared! I'm sure however, there was a new Diana line and the brand name RWS no more used by AGE.

Regards

Vincent

composite stocks

April 1 2005, 5:50 AM

I have never seen or touched a composite stock before but i love black guns. I find them more elegant than wooden guns. I own the 48B edition and its a beauty. Together with its scope and bipod it looks great. But the stock its not synthetic. Its wooden stock painted black. The price is also higher than the regular m48. Perhaps synthetic composite stocks such as GAMO look cheeper. But i never seen one...

On certain guns...

Vince,

My Daisy 953 has the black (sorta grey actually) Synthetic Stock, and with the relativelly high weight of the metal components, steel bbl, and Muzzle weight, the weight reduction over wood really isn't noticable! Infact once I mounter the Sportsman A/O 4X, Metal Sight Rings, anda thick Brass trigger shoe, I doubt any real weight reduction is noticable on the little target gun!

I had a trio of Crosman 795's, which also had Synthetic Factory stocks, but the same thing happened there. The metal reciever and it's Springer powerplant really added some weight to the rifles!

I like the looks of them on certain guns, but am a traditionalist and actually prefer wood on most of my rifles.

He-He what really looks ODD is to see a Winchester Model 94 30-30 with the synthetic butt and forestocks!

I really would like to try both the diana and that New Gamo 640 though, just to see how they'd shoot?

I also see the Model 20 listed

April 6 2005, 6:27 PM

I am glad to see they list the model 20 also, although there is no link to it. Anybody have any idea of prices as I don't see any listed?
