you think running a 4 - 16 x 56AO scope on High Mounts might sit too high, relative to the cheekpiece, to be comfortable? Any input is greatly appreciated.
Without knowing just how high you are going, its hard to give any advice. The RWS C-mount on the top of my 54 puts the center of the scope in a comfortable alignment with my eye. That said I bet I could use higher mounts. I notice that I cant my head over about 30deg.
You'd be surprised how adaptable you are.
What brand scope have you decided on? How long is it? You know the 54 will whiplash the heck out of a long scope.
Kris, that's why I ordered another in .22, lol, don't know when the .177 will arrive...

but the scopes I have sitting idle right now are:
Bushnell Elite 4200 6 - 24 x 40AO Mildot
Bushnell Legend 5 - 15 x 40AO Mildot
Leaper's Accushot 30 mm 4 - 16 x 56AO with sidewheel focus
BSA 4 x 32AO Air Rifle Scope
I wanted to try the Leaper's just to see if it will hold but am probably going to use the Elite since I have a 5039 1 piece adjustable mount that I can use...

P.S. Hope you get some update on your guns...I've resigned that I had to buy the .22 to shoot and enjoy until the tuned .177 gets to me...
