I was wondering if anyone had installed an RWS Muzzle Stabilizer on their mod. 48? --http://airgunexpress.com/Accessories/RWS/rwsbarrelweightstabilizer405-17-1708.htm

It says you need to cut your barrel sleeves down to 6" in order to fit the stabilizer...I'm nervous to do that but I really like the appearance of the 48 SL model -- http://diana-airguns.de/english/index.html

Is this difficult to do? Should I forget about it and just buy one of the smaller steel muzzle weights that don't require cutting the barrel sleeves?

Thanks,
Zack

Shoot it until something breaks...

...then send it off for work. Include the installation of the muzzle weight as part of the job.

I was tempted too, for my 48 and my 54, but not too keen on cutting the sleeves. It also means that you won't be able to use open sights again unless you have a full-length set of sleeves on hand.

Filing front sight grooves to fit a stabilizer is one thing (like for the 350), but cutting the sleeves is permanent. Is it worth it just for the cosmetic appeal?

I ordered the muzzel stabilizer from Diana in Germany, they sendt me a complete kit with a shorter sleeve. Was no problem installing it. Now my 48 looks great!

Sounds good--

Getting a second sleeve makes me less wary of the conversion... I will look into that set from Diana in Germany. Whiteleather is correct, it isn't worth hacking the gun to pieces just for the cosmetics. But if I had a seperate barrel sleeve for the stabilizer I wouldn't have to worry about not being able to go back to the original configuration.

Appreciate the help, I'm brand new to Diana's and airguns in general... My 48 is just 2 weeks old and it's the first air gun I've bought since the toy CO2 pistol I owned when I was 14. I'm hooked!!!!
