I have an old model RWS 45 with walnut, checkered stock. It will cock, but not fire. If I break the barrel and apply additional pressure, the trigger will release and the action can be closed. Any ideas??
Just a total shot in the dark here, but the initial production examples of the model 45 had some severe problems with the safety mechanism, such that the gun was actually recalled and re-designed.
From your description, but it sounds like possibly the safety works with the barrel down, and not with it up? These early recalled guns were made in 1976 or 1977 I think.
I would contact RWS and try to find someone knowledgeable there to discuss the glitch with.
