ive read alot about thyis rifle destroying scopes, is there a way to stop this
how loud is this gun, if i had neighbors that lived right next to me would they hear the gun clearly? i have a cp sport p99 and that gun is pretty loud its a co2 pistol is the rws 34 as loud as that.
what type of mounts go on a rws 34
would the rws 94 be a better choice than the 34?
don't want to waste 200$ on a non well thought out gun. want it to be a keeper. one i will enjoy for years.

I can't comment on scopes since I don't really use them, but someone here should be able to point you in the right direction to a durable scope and mount. I'm pretty sure your nieghbors would hear you shooting. Your best bet is to go and talk to them about it before shooting, might save you alot of greif.

The RWS 94 to my knowledge is actually a Spanish made Cometa. Alot of people have these rifles and are happy with them, I've never had the chance to use one though so I can't say from experience. All I can say is that I love my Dianas, 24 in .177 and .22, 34 in .22, 48 in .177, and P5 Magnum. The .22cal Model 24 is over three years old and has thousands of shots through it and still spits out 16gr JSB's at 465f/s, thats 7.6ftlbs. My Model 34 in .22 is newer and only has about 1000 rounds through it but it is deadly accurate and makes over 15ftlbs with H&N FTT's. If it was up to me I'd do my best to try both before buying. HTH, Mulby.

Too loud

June 8 2005, 5:53 PM

Both the RWS 94 and the RWS 34 (Diana 34) are quiet guns. If you will be shooting 500 feet from where people are, I doubt that they will even notice the gun going off. I own both guns and both are fairly powerful. Be careful where you shoot as pellets from both these guns will travel 500 feet with ease! Hope you enjoy whatever you decide to get.

You will not be disapointed with the 24. The only thing I would recommend is that you check it over carefully when you get it. Me and a couple of buddies picked up a total of 3 model 24's and 2 of them had minor problems (front sight was buggered up on one and a couple of stripped screws on the other) so we exchanged them. They are fairly quiet, a blast to shoot and very accurate.

Enjoy,
Ron.

model 24 and scope rings

June 12 2005, 7:52 AM

One other thing about the 24. My eyesight is getting worse so I decided to pick up a scope. I tried 2 different sets of cheaper scope rings and the scope walked off the 24. I finally picked up the dianna C mount and although it is pricey it works great.

This site has a decibal testing for the RWS 34 at different distances. Up close it is slightly louder than some guns but at greater distance it is pretty quiet.
Results:
Barrel - 93 db
10 yards - 82 DB
25 yards - 69 DB
50 yards - 67 DB

try a basic tune?

I put a Maccari spring and Apex seal in my 34 and tarred the spring. (When I opened it I found the diana spring had a bad kink in it--i'm guessing someone dry fired it.)
It shoots very quietly--no boi-ing! at all.
It has a good rearward kick, but the vibration is way ow. I've been using a 3-9x40 Bushnell Airgun scope--not the strongest in the world with two-piece RWS mounts. I threadlocked everything and I've had no problems.
BTW, it's wicked accurate.

But if you really want a quiet backyard rifle--get a Slavia.
I've got a 631 that I've shrink-tube lubed and it is the quietest air gun i own-- Just a pop.
