Anyone have a Beeman/Williams Aperture sight on a Diana 27/Beeman 100? My 52 year old eyes are having problems with the open sights. Although I can still shoot well enough I find the Beeman/Wms aperture sight on my Beeman R8 easier to shoot. Thanks.
Rene, the Williams will fit just fine, used to have one on my 27. Peeps are superb for older eyes, especially if you take advantage of the different-sized apertures available. I'm just behind ya at age 50 and use aperture sights on most of my rifles.
A sporter-type peep is superior for sporter-type uses--small, light, great field of view around the target. But it can be a lot of fun to use match sights on this type of mild-mannered gun. They are the ultimate in precision and let you use all the adjustable apertures, colored filters and other goodies that are made for these sights.
Either Diana's own Diopter 75, or just about any Anschutz sight, will fit the 27's 11 mm dovetail just fine (although the Diana sight will necessitate removing the action from the stock, and the sheet metal cap from the back of the receiver, to slide it on initially).
Diana's replaceable-element tunnel front sight will slip on in place of the 27's fixed hooded post, too, and enable you to use different front sight elements, either posts or apertures.
Anschutz sights are superb little chunks of precision machinery, and used ones are common at gunshows and on Ebay. I have found them for prices little higher than the cost of a new Williams. And by the way, Anschutz sights will also fit your R8 perfectly.
