I just picked up a used mod 48 for 50.00 at garage sale. the gun is in great shape,but i dont have the manuel for it.I need to get one and dont know how,and i have question about the the barrel.The gun barrel move back and forth about 1/8" is this normal? if not how do i fix it. the rife shoots good and feels fine other then that.thank you.
there's a metal tube around the barrel the makes it look heavier. Cosmetic.
Loosen up the front sight and make sure it is pushing the metal shroud tube all the way to the rear against the front of the receiver. You may want to give it a light tap on the front sight housing with a block of wood.
Some of the shrouds have a metal shim sleeve in between the barrel and the shroud to make up the differnce in OD of the barrel and ID of the shroud.
Hope that was some help. All sounds normal, I've experienced that same thing with a 48 and a 52.
